Plus, on top of all this greatness, an excellent Board of Directors that did a wonderful job putting on the conference. It is a pleasure to have an event where participants can just show up and know that it will be a high quality event because the board has taken care of all the details.
The Conference started on Thursday 5/30, with Bob Copper’s Presentation: Improving Your Ancillary Products & Services. Bob has had many years of experience in the storage industry and shared his insight and sales expertise.
Instead of Roundtable discussions, each vendor had the opportunity to speak to the group of 42 attendees about their offerings and how they could assist storage business owners and managers. Followed by a cocktail reception with snacks, refreshments and lots of prizes! Vendor tables were set up so everyone had the opportunity to explore products and services more closely. Plus there were vendor take-aways – product and service information, door prizes, candy, gifts.
On Friday 5/31 the Conference opened with the main speaker – Anne Ballard aka the “Hat Lady”. Anne comes to us from the Atlanta area and is a storage/marketing expert with many years of experience operating and managing various storage businesses. She shared those years of knowledge and experience in an interesting and entertaining manner. Participants were given many ideas to ponder and a handout to help remember what was discussed. There was special emphasis on online, internet and social media marketing avenues – as this is where the future of marketing/advertising lies.
Also this was a “great” opportunity to mix and mingle with other storage business professionals, to rekindle old friendships, start new friendships and share our own stories / knowledge / expertise about the storage industry in our area.
What was really great about the conference is the wealth of information and advice provided so that everyone who attended could take away at least one good idea which could be implemented immediately to improve their business and the bottom line. We always leave MESSA conferences with having learned more about the storage industry today and knowing more about where the storage industry is heading.
