The Maine Self Storage Association Code of Ethics defines the expectation of professional conduct for all MeSSA members. Each member of the Association shall endeavor to:
A. Operate its self storage business within accepted principles of professional business operations;
B. Engage in practices that promote the integrity of the Association and the self storage industry by demonstrating a standard of excellence in customer service, promotion and marketing;
C. Monitor industry developments to assure the availability to the public of quality facilities, services and products;
D. Be an employer of reputable standards and act as an equal opportunity employer;
E. Promote the self storage industry through improvements in operations for the benefit of customers, vendors and the public;
F. Promote sensible legislative proposals to improve the self storage industry;
G. Provide self storage facilities and services without regard to religion, race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or disability;
H. Comply with all applicable federal, state, provincial and local laws, regulations and ordinances;
I. Provide a written agreement to all customers who are renting or leasing self storage space;
J. Comply with the bylaws of MeSSA.
